STORYLINE:
Set in the 1920s, during the tumultuous period of Japanese occupation, “Song of the Bandits” follows a group of disparate individuals who find themselves in the lawless land of Gando, a part of China (Qing). Their motivations vary: some seek survival, while others harbor dreams of independence for Korea. Lee Yoon (played by Kim Nam-gil): A former Japanese soldier, Yoon abandons everything to become a bandit in Gando. His mission: to protect the land and its people. Nam Hee-shin (portrayed by Seohyun): An undercover independence activist working as the head of the Railway Bureau under the Japanese Government-General of Korea. Her true allegiance remains hidden. Choi Chung-soo (played by Yoo Jae-myung): A landowner in a Korean village within Gando, Chung-soo is also an independence activist. Lee Gwang-il (portrayed by Lee Hyun-wook): A major in the Imperial Japanese Empire’s 37th Infantry Regiment. His path crosses with Yoon in a complicated relationship. Eon Nyeon (played by Lee Ho-jung): A contract killer commissioned to murder Yoon, she ventures to Gando.
